Do you have to rinse out this product? Can I layer other products over it?
This is a leave-in treatment serum that you will not rinse out. Once you apply, you can follow with your regular styling products.
Can I use the Scalp Clarifying Serum and BioBrew™ together?
You can use the serums together if you have an oily scalp and want to repair weak or damaged strands. In that case, we suggest applying the clarifying serum to your scalp where you are concerned with oil and then applying BioBrew™ to your strands.
Can I layer my regular styling products over this serum?
Yes! We recommend using the clarifying serum on a clean, towel-dried scalp before using other styling products.
How does this serum control oil?
The Clarifying Serum is formulated with ingredients like salicylic acid, known for their ability to gently break down and rebalance excess oil, soothe dryness, and reduce visible redness. To see the best results in oil control, use it consistently in your hair routine.
Can I use the serum if I have a sensitive scalp? If I use it regularly, will it dry out my scalp?
The Clarifying Serum is formulated to control excess oil, but not all oil on the scalp. At the Rootist, we know the importance of protecting and nourishing our scalp and its microbiome. So, in addition to the oil control ingredients in the formula, it also contains the Rootbiomic Ferment™ to ensure the scalp is nourished, hydrated, and balanced. If you have a tendency toward sensitivity or have a known allergy, please check the label, and if you have any concerns, please patch test.
Can I apply this serum only to clean, towel-dried scalp? Or can I use it in between wash days on dry hair?
We recommend using the clarifying serum on a clean, towel-dried scalp. If you want help controlling excess oil on non-wash days, we suggest trying our talc-free Dry Shampoo Powder that absorbs excess oil and sweat like a sponge.
Can I use this on my dry, flaky scalp?
If you’re experiencing a dry, flaky scalp, we recommend using our AHA ACV Pre-Shampoo Rinse to clarify excess oil gently, product build-up, and dry, flaky scalp without stripping moisture.
